What to expect in a race
Races
There are two kinds of races in Crazy Kart, Speed race and Power-up race. Speed races are meant for those hardcore racers who just want to show their crazy drifting skills. Power-up races, on the other hand, are for those players who want to dominate races with speed and power. Power-up races allows players to gain items that can boost them and delay their opponents advance to the finish line. Speed and skill are not the only factors that can help a player win a Power-up race.
Power-Up Race
In a power-up race, the most important thing to look out for are the crystals. They will give you random power-ups that will help you win. Below is a screenshot of the crystals.
In the upper left corner of the screen, you will see what power-ups you have acquired. The power-up on the left side is the one that will be consumed first upon pressing the Use button (default: Ctrl). There are times wherein you will need to switch power-ups (press Switch button, default: Space), and the switch crystal icon beside the power-ups will indicate how many times you can switch. In the screenshot above, you can switch 13 times.
There are various power-ups for Single races and Team races. Below are the power-ups for single races.
Single Player Power-Ups
Powerup | Target | Effect |
Nitro | Self | Boosts Kart for a few seconds. Makes one Immune to UFO. One important feature is that a Kart can gain free Nitro as long as there is a free slot in the power-up boxes. Maintain your top speed until the N2O bar in the lower right side of your screen fills up, and you will get a free Nitro powerup! |
Top Speed | Self | Boosts Kart to top speed for a few seconds. Makes Kart immune to Banana Peel, UFO, and |
Shield | Self | Makes Kart immune to all negative power-ups: Homing Missile, Banana Peel, UFO, Confuse Bomb, Bomb, Lightning. |
Banana Peel | Others | Leaves a Banana Peel on the race track to slow down other players. Player who runs over the Banana Peel will spin around and slow down to almost a complete stop for a few seconds. |
Confuse Bomb | Others | Leaves a Confuse Bomb on the race track to confuse karts. Player who runs over the Confuse Bomb will have reversed steering for a few seconds. |
Smokescreen | All | Creates a Smokescreen to blind all who pass through it. Good to use in conjunction with the Banana Peel and Confuse Bomb. Smoke the track and watch everyone spin! |
Bomb | Others in area of effect | Throws the bomb ahead of the Kart to cause a huge explosion which burns all other Karts and slows them down. |
UFO | 1st Placer | Summons a UFO to hunt down and use its magnetic beam to slow down the Kart in 1st place. Will not work if user is in 1st place. |
Homing Missile | Kart ahead of user | Launches a very determined Homing Missile which chases the Kart immediately ahead the user. |
Lightning | All other Karts ahead of user | Calls forth Lightning Bolts which zap all Karts ahead of the user, greatly slowing them down for a few seconds. |
Team Player Power-Ups
In team races, there are new power-ups available. These power-ups are more team-oriented. Below are the power-ups for the team races. Other attacks found in single player races may hit teammates, so take care in using them.
Powerup | Target | Effect |
Anti UFO | Whole Team | Causes a UFO to return where it came from. Can be used when a teammate is targeted by a UFO. |
Team Heal | Whole Team | Cancels all negative effects on all teammates. |
Invisibility | Self | Makes user invisible, and cannot be targeted by single target power-ups. |
Ghost | Kart ahead of user | Steals a power-up from the Kart from the opposing team who is ahead of the user. |
Fireball | All other Karts ahead of user | Launches Fireballs which bounce off walls and the tracks to hit all Karts, whether teammates or opponents. |
Other Obstacles
There are other obstacles in the race tracks that can slow you down. For example, hitting the walls of the track will immediately cut your speed in half. Other obstacles present in the various race tracks are:
- Mud
- Water Puddles
- Trees
- Walls of areas that need to be accessed by ramps
It is important to avoid all obstacles to keep winning!
Below is an example of a mud puddle.
Shortcuts
Keep your eyes open for various shortcuts in the race tracks. Some shortcuts may be in the form of a ramp, or a tunnel, or a secret passageway. They will not only shorten your course, they can also contain more crystals for more power-ups! Beware, though, missing shortcuts might cause you to lose more time.
Other Boosts
Keep your eyes open for multi-colored bands on the ground. They are boosters, which work like Nitro power-ups, and they will greatly boost your speed! Keep running on them to maintain top speed!
